Belém in Pará is surprising beautiful

Discovering the downtown of Belém...

With the Republic Square...

and the Peace Theater.
Built during the Rubber (white gold) cycle all the material for its construction came from abroad.
Chandelier from USA,
metal parts from United Kingdom and mirrors and glasses from France.
Only the wooden pavement is from Brazilian wood...
with elements from the Rain Forest, like this Vitória-Régia.
More of our first day in Belém in the nect post.

Cheers!!

Lets go to Belem in the Rain Forest

Heading to the airport of São Luis to take the flight to Belém in the state of Pará.
Waiting in the airport.
Anja and Frauke having "Kesus" from the bottle.

Let's go to Belém. The city is in the middle of the rain forest.

Vuuuuush!

Floating away: the Cardosa Ride

For the last day in the Lençois Maranhenses we took the Cardosa Ride floating on the Rio Formiga (Ants River) being dragged by its smooth current. Relaxing and fun!

The fun starts in the village ... 38 km far from Barreirinhas.
Crossing the cerrado, local vegetation, ...
on a adventurous track and ...
... amazing landscape.
Once at the Rio Formiga we started the adventure.

Great fun!

Cheers!

River downwards to Caburé

Next morning at the harbor taking the motorboat to the peninsula Caburé.

The ride costed 50R$ per person in the low season (60R$ in the high season).
Girls just wanna have fun.
Down the River Preguiça.

The mangroves and the "flying" roots.

The palmtrees:
Açaí is used the production of ice cream.
The leave of the Carnaúba gives the Carnaúba wax.
An awesome sun shine and temperatures above 30C.
Challenged for a motor boat race.
First stop: the Pequenos Lençois ...

... and the locals.
Second stop: the light house in...

The Rio Preguiça flows into the Atlantic Ocean at the Caburé Peninsula, 35 km river downwards from Barreirinhas.

Late in the afternoon we drove back. Time for reflection inspired and supported by this awesome peace of Earth.

Good energy.

Cheers.

From Santa Ines to Barreirinhas
On the first day we headed to the Grandes Lençois.

In Barreirinhas we took the Jeep, crossed the Rio Preguiça (Laziness /sloth River) in a ferry and reached the dunes of the Grandes Lençois after 40 min.
