Back from Würzburg, the biggest city in Franconia after a very nice weekend meeting friends, making new ones, enjoying the local wine, sightseeing and photographing.

Despite of the rainy weather and the level of the river Main getting higher and higher, my friend Roman kindly showed me a lot of Würzburg, where he has been living for almost two years.

We walked up the hill to the Marienberg fortress, crossed vineyards, entered the Residence Palace (Residenzschloss) and passed the main spots of the town.
It couldn't be different now sharing some of the impressions I could catch with my camera.

After a long walk through the vineyards, which grow along the river Main, Roman and I reached the Marienberg fortress. It's a local proud to have such an impressive construction rising in the middle of such a beautiful landscape.

A visit to the Residence Palace (die Residenz) is a good option to get some of the historical background of Region. The entrance adult entrance fee costs 7,50 EUR and includes a guided tour through the most interesting rooms of the Residence. To take pictures is not allowed in the Museum. Below a picture take in the part of the facilities, which are used by the University.

Franconia is also very known for its traditional wines, which are available in the very typical Franconian "Bocksbeutel" bottle. Being there is worth tasting at least a few of the available types. There are many!
I brought these two bottles home. Really tasty!

I am glad I finally accepted Roman's invitation to come along and have a look in Würzburg. It was great to meet new people, try the wine, get to know the town... Oh! and we partied. Yes we did!
